This is a lovely mediaeval church is set in a conservation area, close to the River Salwarpe and the canal. It is a surprisingly large church for such a small hamlet (no doubt due to its proximity to Salwarpe Court, which has connections to King Harold and Warwick the Kingmaker).

This is the most overgrown grave we have ever seen!.

Gwynog was born in Wales in 511 A.D., the son of Gildas, 'a most ancient British historian' and a monk of Bangor. Gwynog was a pupil of St. Ffinnian, an Irish monk. Gwynog left the country to take refuge in Brittany with his father, who had stirred up the wrath of the Welsh princes - especially that of Cyr!las, who was Prince of Powys. Gwynog took orders late in life and became Bishop of Vannes, but after rousing the anger of the King he was sent into exile. He died in Angers at the age of 69, in 580 A.D., just 10 years after the death of his father. He lived in this part of Powys between 540 and 550 AD.

The chancel is 12th century. The nave and transepts were rebuilt in 1860 to designs by the architect Edward Banks.

The church is traditionally associated with a 9th-century Celtic saint, St Garmon. St Garmon was most likely St Germanus (410–474), the first Bishop of Man.

Once the site of an Iron Age Hill Fort and later the home of monks, the present building dates from 1210. It has evolved under the patronage of two important local families, the Bearcrofts of Mere Hall and the Vernons of Hanbury Hall.

Built between 1084 and 1504, Worcester Cathedral represents every style of English architecture from Norman to Perpendicular Gothic. It is famous for its Norman crypt and unique chapter house,

As it is surrounded by secular buildings it is very difficult to photograph.

Ellen Wood (17 January 1814 – 10 February 1887), was an English novelist, better known as "Mrs. Henry Wood". She is perhaps remembered most for her 1861 novel East Lynne, but many of her books became international best-sellers, being widely received in the United States and surpassing Charles Dickens' fame in Australia.

The church was extensively restored in 1874-75 by Hopkins and Ewan Christian. The older parts are of sandstone rubble. It comprises a nave with a 12th century north wall and a modern south aisle of four bays, a rebuilt 14th century chancel, a later medieval west tower and a timber porch on stone foundations.

The Katyn Memorial - The massacre of 25,000 Polish people by the Russian NKVD in 1940.

The Katyn massacre was a series of mass executions of Polish nationals carried out by the NKVD ("People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs", a Soviet secret police organisation) in April and May 1940. Though the killings took place at several different locations, the massacre is named after the Katyn Forest, where some of the mass graves were first discovered. The number of victims is estimated at about 25,000.

The church probably dates from the late 11th or early 12th century. The nave and chancel are clearly Norman as is the lower part of the tower but the upper portions appear to be 15th century.

Holy Trinity - Much Wenlock - Shropshire

Much Wenlock Parish Church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and is a place made sacred by lives and prayers for more than 1300 years. The first church on this site was Anglo-Saxon, built probably about AD 680.

The present nave was built in 1150 by the cluniac monks of Wenlock Priory.

St James the Great, Salt, Staffordshire

The village church is dedicated to St James the Great and was built on land donated by the Earl of Shrewsbury and largely paid for by him. It has a large circular stained glass east window, an unusually tall south porch and an open stone bell turret mounted at the east end of the church hung with two bells. The impressive wood rood screen was designed by Augustus Pugin.

St Peter, Broughton, Staffordshire

St. Peter's at Broughton was built by Thomas Broughton in 1630-34 as a chapel for Broughton Hall, which was being restored and extended at that time. It was built on the site of an earlier chapel. It is thought that the chapel was used exclusively by the family until 1711 when other local gentry worshipped there. Later it became the church for the nearby hamlets.

According to Enwogion Cymru, Tanwg was a saint who lived in the early part of the sixth century. He was one of the sons of Ithel Hael and he accompanied St Cadvan from Armorica to Britain in the time of Vortigern who procured wise men and divines from Gaul, now called France, to renovate Christianity in this Island, in consequence of the decay and failure that had befallen the faith in Christ.
