(Click on an image for a larger version)
The parish church of Llanidloes is dedicated to St Idloes, a seventh century saint about whom very little is known. His feast is celebrated on September 6th and this church is the only one in his dedication. Three manuscripts testify he was the son of Gwyddnabi ab Llawfrodedd who was a red-bearded knight.

Saint Faith or "Saint Faith of Conques" (Latin Sancta Fides, French Sainte-Foy, Spanish Santa Fe) is a saint who is said to have been a girl or young woman of Agen in Aquitaine. Her legend recounts how she was arrested during persecution of Christians by the Roman Empire and refused to make pagan sacrifices even under torture. Saint Faith was tortured to death with a red-hot brazier.

The slab on the floor shows a priest and it is probably Walter Savage who died in 1518.

St Michael, Stretton en le Field, Leicestershire
(Click on an image for a larger version)
The village's church, St Michael's, was constructed in the 14th century in an elevated position in the village; although it is currently redundant and not used for regular services, it remains a consecrated building: it is Grade II* Listed and is maintained by the Churches Conservation Trust. It is considered historically valuable as (with the exception of new box pews in the 18th century) the church has remained almost unchanged since medieval times.

Charles Keysall died from "a long and painful illness" and his wife Penelope had a "lingering and painful illness".

 St Giles, Bredon, Worcestershire
(Click on an image for a larger version)
The Normans began the present church, around 1180, and work continued until the middle of the 13th century. It seems possible that stonemasons who were at that time working on the great Abbey of Tewkesbury were called in to lend a hand in the construction of Bredon Church. Certainly the two external turrets at the west end and those at Tewkesbury Abbey have a marked resemblance.

St John the Baptist, Fladbury, Worcestershire
(Click on an image for a larger version)
There has almost certainly been a Christian presence in Fladbury since the 7th century, but the present church, dedicated to St John the Baptist – as befits the church of a riverside community – dates predominantly from the 14th century. A particular source of interest is the work of Frederick Preedy, an able artist who combined the profession of architecture with the design, painting and manufacture of stained glass.
