Llandrindod Wells, Powys - Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Church took two years to build and opened in July 1871.  It cost £2457 to build, and originally had seating for 500 people.  It has since been extended several times.

The three memorial plaques below are inside the church below the stained glass window referred to in the second one.

The handsome war memorial is a short distance from Holy Trinity Church.

International war graves from British forces, Chester Crematorium and Cemetery, Cheshire

War graves from overseas forces buried in Chester Crematorium and Cemetery, Cheshire

I wonder how these foreign soldiers came to be buried in Chester.

H.C.T. refers to the High Commission Territories of Basutoland (Lesotho), Bechuanaland (Botswana) and Swaziland.  These countries wanted their forces to be separate from their South African counterparts and following discussions with the High Commissioner in Pretoria the African (Auxiliary) Pioneer Corps was established.  The word "Auxiliary" was later dropped.
