The parish church is a Grade II* listed building dedicated to Saint Martin, dating from the 14th century and restored in 1849 by S. S. Teulon. The west tower and the font are 14th-century.

This would have been a very impressive gravestone before the ravages of time took their toll.

The church dates from the 12th century, with some additions and alterations undertaken in about 1380–1400, and more in the late 17th century. Minor repairs were carried out in
1865– 66. The church was declared redundant in July 1973.

On 21 October 1939 the Orsa sank about 15 miles from Flamborough Head.

All credit to the grounds staff who have kept the cemetery so tidy. 
 
 
On 21 October 1939 the Orsa (Master Alexander Simpson) struck a mine laid on 5 September by U-15 and sank about 15 miles from Flamborough Head. The master and 15 crew members were lost.
 
Four crew members were picked up by HMS Woolston and landed at Rosyth.

St Peter's Church is a redundant Anglican church that has been called "The Queen of the Marsh". The church dates from about 1200, with additions and alterations in each of the following three centuries. It underwent restorations in 1866 and 1896. The church has suffered from subsidence, and since being vested in the Churches Conservation Trust it has been underpinned.

World War I Nurses were members of the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service (QAIMNS) and there were about 10,000 regular and reserve QAs serving in countries such as France, India, East Africa, Italy, Palestine, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Salonika and Russia.

A flood occurred in the town on 29 May 1920, causing 23 deaths. One woman climbed a chimney to survive, another was the only survivor from a row of twelve terrace houses, which were destroyed by the flood waters.

Theddlethorpe village is a dispersed settlement which comprises two historic parishes, Theddlethorpe All Saints in the north-west and Theddlethorpe St Helen in the south-east. The present church was nearly completely rebuilt in 1866 although some parts of the medieval church survive including the narrow tower arch.
