Three teenaged boys were killed when the barn they were taking shelter in collapsed during a "violent hurricane".

As with so many Parish Churches, details of the origins of St Mary's Church, Ringstead have been lost long ago. The Church seems always to have been associated with Denford Church as a daughter church or chapel-in-ease, but it was not until 1535 that any recorded reference is made to this fact.
