It is believed that there has been a church on this spot for more than 800 years although most of what can now be seen is the result of extensive renovations carried out in 1862. Parts of the original building can be seen in the porch and the bottom of the tower is of the same 13th century period.
William and Sarah Deem lost William Herbert and Mary in infancy and another five of their children didn't reach the age of 21.
